Originally built in the
13th Century, the Burg-Muehle served as a water-powered mill for the palatinate
of Kaiser Barbarossa.
Built next to the old castle, the
Burg-Muehle had been used as a grain- & saw-mill until 1958. Over the next twenty
years, it housed a variety of different activities ranging from a garage to a stable to a
tinsmith's workshop before finally falling into ruin.
In 1978 the Ebner family
purchased the historic ruin and began reconstructing it into a hotel. On May 31st,
1980, the Burg-Muehle Hotel opened with five rooms, a restaurant and two small banquet
rooms.
By 1990 it had expanded into an 18-room hotel and larger banquet facilities
had been added.
Today the Hotel Burg-Muehle has evolved into 42-room facility but still owe´ned and operated by the Ebner family. Amenities and services include an international cocktail bar, a gourmet restaurant, four rooms fully equipped for conferences and banquets, a well known cosmetic-studio, nature-cure centre, sauna & solarium facilities attended by qualified practitioners.
